Safety upgrade for Corolla

Toyota’s Corolla now offers autonomous emergency braking.

The system is one of the more advanced on an affordable car, using both a camera and lidar to detect objects ahead. It can automatically apply the brakes between 10 and 80km/h (many cheaper systems only work up to about 30km/h). The advanced crash avoidance system is hatch. Even then, the price of the ZR has increased by up to $930 as a result.

Other Corollas, including the Ascent, Ascent Sport, Hybrid and SX, can have the safety pack fitted for another $750 (or $1500 for the Ascent sedan, which also picks up alloy wheels as part of the deal). standard only on the most expensive ZR sedan and hatch, though the price of the ZR has increased by up to $930 as a result.
