Webber: world champion at last

After years of highs and lows, Mark Webber, 39, has claimed his first world championship title. Driving the ailing #17 Porsche 918 Hybrid with teammates Brendon Hartley and Timo Bernard, the trio fought off lapsapping mechanical woes after claiming pole to finish fifth at the season-ending Six Hours of Bahrain. That fifth place was enough for Webber to claim the World Endurance Championship. “Today was about fighting as hard as possible”, Webber said. “I am so proud to be world champion.”
