Crushing the nuts behind the wheel

Honda is working towards a “collision-free” society, and Wheels was at a test track in Japan recently in an Accord speeding around with its new Target Line Trace Control technology, while a human sat at the wheel and did nothing. Yoichi Sugomoto, the head of Honda’s Automated Driver program, admits that his ultimate goal is for “total autonomy”. However, he said the system we tried will be used for “highway driving, on-ramp to off-ramp only” by around 2020, and that completely self-driving cars could still be as far away as 2030.
