Tesla rolls out Aussie Autopilot

OWNERS of a Tesla Model S in Australia can now update the operating system in their car to include the autonomous driving mode Autopilot.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the company still sees it as a test program, “so we want people to be quite careful”. Drivers are strongly recommended to keep their hands on the wheel at all times and stay alert to the need to take back control of their car from the software, which includes auto steer and auto lane change. Asked whether the system recognised pedestrians, Musk joked, “It shouldn’t hit pedestrians, hopefully.”
