We have ignition

A MAJOR development breakthrough arrived when Mazda was able to produce transparent rotor housings and rotors, enabling measurement and analysis. Such technology is available basically off the shelf for piston engines, allowing engineers to examine piston movement and ignition flare patterns. “We could then see how to inject the fuel, how to start a bang or flare or something,” R&D chief Kiyoshi Fujiwara said. “We can see this kind of phenomena, it can be put into computer analysis and we can change some shape or trochoidal [rotor] lines or the shape or material of the seal.”
