FORD Australia lost $191m in 2014, largely due to redundancies ($167.2m) ahead of its local factory closure in October 2016. It made more money in engineering for foreign markets than in local manufacturing, losing $3m less than in 2014, but that still means a $23m loss. In the first four months of this year, sales are down from 26,577 to 21,565, market share falling from 7.7 to 6.0 percent.

“We’re not trying to compete on lowest price, but move away from fleet into a sustainable business,” a Ford spokesperson told Wheels.
