Rallycross launches in Oz

AUSTRALIA has its own championship for rallycross, a fusion of circuit racing and rallying that was popular here in the 1970s. Organised by Rallycross Australia, which was created by former national rally champion Bob Watson, the series kicks off with events at Broadford, Victoria, on July 19 and October 25. Any vehicle that CAMS has approved for rallying is eligible, and itís hoped a six-event series will be held in 2016. The local championship follows the inauguration of an FIA-sanctioned world championship in 2014, won by Petter Solberg.
