Watch out

POLICE have admitted they are unsure if drivers wearing the new Apple Watch will be breaking the law when they use the device behind the steering wheel. However, they’ve warned that motorists using Apple’s new-generation smartwatch for anything more than a quick time-check risk the same heavy penalties as for using a phone while driving. In Victoria that means $443 and the loss of four demerit points. At least one state admits there’s “no cut and dry rule” for how much a driver can interact with the device before falling foul of the law.
