Blue Oval out of shape

FORD may have predicted 2015 would be a breakthrough year, but its first-quarter net income fell 6.6 percent to $US924 million ($A1178m) on revenue 5.6 percent lower at $33.9 billion ($A43.2bn) compared with Q1 2014, the company has reported. While analysts have pointed to a fall in sales of the new F-Series light truck linked to delays retooling the production line for the vehicle’s aluminium body, Ford CFO Bob Shanks (right) blames currency fluctuations and new product launches as factors. Ford’s global volume fell one percent to 1.6 million.
