MALCOLM Fraser, Liberal Prime Minister from 1975-83 who ramped up protection of the Australian car industry, has died aged 84. An avid Wheels subscriber, he used his influence to increase import tariffs and local content levels. In an interview with Wheels early last year, Fraser said he used the magazine to keep abreast of developments in the automotive world. He featured in two Wheels stories, road testing the locally made Ford LTD in 1976 and Fairlane in 2008. For footage and more on Fraserís contribution, head to WheelsMag.com.
