Look, no hands!

GERMANY has started paving the way for a new generation of self-driving vehicles, bringing in laws that allow carmakers to use a stretch of high-speed autobahn for real-world testing. The move follows Audi’s demonstration ahead of January’s Detroit motor show when a self-driving RS7 (pictured) steered its way 800km between Palo Alto and Las Vegas. Rather than letting self-driving cars loose, the German government says the road will be lined with special sensors, as well as extra crash safety.
