THE rumours are true: as forcast by Wheels (December 2014) , Porsche has confirmed that every 911 will be turbocharged. Well, almost.
The update of the 991-gen 911 later this year will see the entire range from the base Carrera upwards powered by a turbo flat-six. Only the GT3 will remain naturally aspirated. The reason?
Emissions, of course. “We have to respect the legal requirements,” company R&D boss Wolfgang Hatz told journalists at the Detroit motor show. “But don’t worry, if we have a turbocharged engine it will rev, it will deliver.”
