Audi A8 to go all-hybrid

AUDI has confirmed that its next-generation A8 sedan, due locally in 2017, will have only hybrid drivetrains. The current A8 is offered in hybrid form in Europe with the same 2.0-litre turbo four as the VW Golf and Audi A3. The exact form of the next-gen’s hybridisation is yet to be confirmed. “More or less every car in the future, especially in the premium segment, will have some form of electrification,” said Audi tech chief Ulrich Hackenberg. “That may be a micro hybrid system, electrical turbo system, a combination or maybe a full hybrid or a plug-in.”
