VOLVO is set to join the likes of Tesla by selling its cars directly. While the US electric-car company owns all of its dealerships (that it calls stores), Volvo wants to sell its cars directly to customers via its website. “The plan is to have all our car lines in all our markets offered digitally,” Volvo sales chief Alain Visser said, citing customers wanting to avoid the negotiation stage of the buying process. It doesn’t spell the end of the traditional car dealership, though.
Vehicles sold online will still be delivered through Volvo’s traditional dealer network.
