RETIRED POLICE CHASERS
Ever been in a police chase? We can’t recommend it. But, if you have, you may be aware that the coppers have had some pretty quick tackle over the years. But it wasn’t always so.
Even up to the late 1960s ‘Police Pack’ cars were very little different from the ‘Taxi Pack’ cars. The focus was largely on the capacity of the electrical system – providing larger capacity batteries and alternators, and beefed up wiring looms.
Then in the 70s it became a bigger issue than ensuring they could get through a long winter’s night without the battery going flat. The new generation of police ‘Interceptors’ were the full monty – 140mph pursuit cars with handling and braking to try and match their speed potential. Big fast cars.
