CAMARO CANDY

IMAGINE THIS FOR a recipe: fullyadjustable suspension, a 500hp dry-sump donk from a Corvette Z06, and a six-speed Tremec gearbox all wrapped up in Brandywine over Cinder Red metalwork.

This is the combined handiwork of Graham Laity and a cohort of uberprofessional modifers and restorers who dedicated time, money and their engineering masterminds to build this exquisite highway gobbler.

The Streety lads have also uncovered a Silver Fox XW with 700 horses kicking and screaming, but all beneath the bonnet; not poking through it. That's right, no lasercutters, no flaring, no bolt-ons. This has to be one of our favourite SM cars (and we like a lot of them), so if you're looking for a drag car but don't want to lose the authenticity of its hey-day, take notes from Marcus Howe, he's only going to say it once.

GERMANY'S GIANTS

THE NEW MERCEDES AMG C63 S Coupe isn’t just a carbon copy of the sedan, minus two doors. Instead, AMG’s tweaked the car, adding a fatter rear, allowing a new axle with an extra 50mm of track, giving it a wider rear tyre set to increase traction. If it didn't have enough already, the Coupe has new wowfactor, thanks to its much-improved seven-speed wet clutch automatic gearbox.

Coupled with the thunderous bellow of the 4.0-litre V8, it goes 10 percent faster with a 3.9sec 0-100km/h time and a slick revised look. All of this combines to give a beautiful sense of control when driving it, as the better-balanced weight distribution means weaving through windy country roads is no issue for the AMG bahnstormer.

Certainly a potential star of 2016, but can it beat the 911 benchmark?

IMPURE PORSCHE?

IT WAS ONLY a matter of time before even the world's most beloved naturally-aspirated sports car, the iconically honed, refined and fettled Porsche 911, grew a pair of snails in its bum.

Up until now, force-fed 911s had either a Turbo or a GT2 badge on the back. Enter Carrera and Carrera S, twin-turbocharged and pumped full of attitude. But does the lag of spooling and the dumping of waste gates take the dynamic edge off the recipe? Can Weissach still deliver the accuracy, the tactility and that fantastically pure aural signature with a pair of blowers strapped on? Find out in Wheels.

On the other side of the coin, you can't afford to miss the big COTY shebang as the class of 2015/16 go under the microscope and inside the pressure cooker. Look out for Honda's hot hybrid NSX and our Andy Enright moonlighting at the WRC too. Go on, get scanning.
