BORN TO BE WILD

> IN YOUR FACEBOOK

ON OUR Facebook page recently we posed the simple question: If you could have one car from the year you were born, what would it be?

STREET MACHINE – 1972 Torana GTR XU-1 – Telfo.

Brett Ebb – Telfo, I thought it was a Sandman like how we discussed back in the 80s at Nundah State School!

Steven Harley – If I had to get something from the year I was born I guess it would have to be a VN Group A.

Christopher ‘Bluey’ Blanks – Suppose I could put up with a Walkinshaw.

Steven Harley – We need a Walky and a Group A to cruise around in!

Bruce Crockett – If you want a ‘cruiser’, the VN SV5000 was better!

Steven Harley – I can’t afford either!

Nicholas Bull – 1974 Mazda RX-4 coupe.

It was my first car and like a lot of first cars I thrashed and trashed it. I wish I had my time again or could afford another one.

Nicholas Bull – Just the other day my 1986 almost-stock RX-7 turbo beat a 2010 XR6 turbo. He wasn’t happy.

Bruce Crockett – Did they make cars in 1961? If I had to choose, probably a 1961 Chevrolet Impala SS or C1 Corvette. I could be greedy and go a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB – unfortunately I don’t have a spare $18.7 million!

Laura Pendlebury – 1988 BMW E30 M3.

Still (as far as I know) the most successful WTCC car of all time.

Brett Ebb – I had its big sister, the E34 M5 Touring (wagon).

Damos El Comediano – I had a Centura, 245 with a four-speed manual.

Did the best burnouts and flogged a few worked Toranas.

Brett Gill – ’76 LX Torana hatch. Like the one I’ve got, only minus the rust!

Jeff Kleem – Wish I was born in 1968 so I could have an HK Bathurst Monaro, but I would have to settle for a 1956 Cadillac.

Jamie Smith – Got one ready for restoration – Silver Mink HK Prem, white roof, red interior, 1969.

Eric James Mullen – ’62 Corvette, but would gladly swap for a 1970 Superbird!

Debbie Chase – My favourite is a Torana, but for my birth year, an HD Holden.

Errol Pleash – 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury 426. Not the lightest or fastest Mopar of the day, but oh, the road presence!

Ang Seiler – I do own a car from the year I was born: a beautiful 1965 Chev Impala!

Tony Hales – Okay, if I must. 1971, read ’em and weep – I get a Phase III!

Brett Ebb – All too common. I want the Phase IV.

Tony Hales – I had to pick 1971, so this is the pick of the bunch. But I’d like a Phase IV too. Oh well, at least I have an XA GS.

Paul Dempsey – Show off!
