NATHAN’S Capri is one very well set up little street car. It runs mid-nines – untubbed, on standard suspension and with tiny 235/60/15 radials. The 685hp, 375ci alloy-headed Windsor was built by Big H Race Engines and is backed by a C4 auto and nine-inch diff with 31-spline Moser axles and a Truetrac centre.

“I’ve had an awesome event; the people are great,” Nathan says. “The car ran its best ever pass at Calder – a 9.64. At Portland it ran a 6.1, which again is a PB over the eighth-mile.”

Nathan brought the Capri along to Drag Challenge last year and had such a beaut time he knew the 2015 event wasn’t to be missed.

“Drag Challenge is the best thing I’ve ever done with my car,” he says.

“I’ve raced it at plenty of meetings and done plenty of car shows and cruises, but Drag Challenge for me is the pinnacle of owning a street car. I don’t ever want the car to cross the line to becoming a drag car. I’d love to see a 9.50, and we believe the car has it in it. From there if I want to go faster I’ll build another Capri.”
