Next issue, eight big-dollar dynamos take on the formula. Plus, what car will be our value champion for 2017?

THE DUST may have settled on BFYBís budget biff, but the war is far from over.

Next month, we clear the ring for the $50K-$100K battle. And if you thought this month ended up bloody, the guns are truly drawn in one of the most varied $50K-plus fields.

Ford deploys its Focus RS into the clash, armed with a weapons grade allwheel drive system, rock-bottom price, and a hunger for Mercedes-AMGís A45.

Over in the red camp, Holdenís Commodore signs off with the SS-V Redline Ute. Itíll wade in as the categoryís cheapest rear-driver, followed by a Caterham, which will make its debut in 275 form and inject open-wheel thrills into the mix. Itíll be joined by another wildcard in Audiís S4.

The compact íbahn-bullet just limbos under the price bar, but brings with it a devastatingly fast chassis to keep everyone honest.

Alfa Romeoís Giulia Veloce will fly the Italian flag, proudly, with its LSD-equipped drivetrain. Meanwhile Miniís lobbed its JCW Clubman with a breadvan bodystyle and an allwheel drive system. Its invited along a Bavarian cousin in BMWís M140i, which will try tear apart the formula with its stonking new turbo six.

On top of all this, however, MOTOR will crown the overall 2017 champ.

Judging by the pedigree in either pack, the title doesnít look like anybodyís yet.

So while we load the data, stay put for one, big bombshell. Ė LC
