Well, the inevitable happened at the Symmons Plains round of the V8 Supercars.
Drivers injured, cars badly damaged, people happy to watch the carnage. Symmons Plains has been an anachronism for at least 20 years – too short, too narrow, just plain stupidly dangerous.
It’s time for the drivers to say, “no! we won’t race there until you fix it!” Sheer luck and solid engineering prevented a driver death. Next time they might not be so lucky.
Tough one, Peter, as for some fans these smaller circuits are the only chance they have to see top-flight motorsport.
