YOUíD think it would be difficult building a business model around selling just 100 cars, but it helps when theyíre AU$3.14m each and you can sell all 100 before production even starts. Thatís the case for the new Pagani Huayra Roadster, which shares the coupeís 464kW/1000Nm 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12, but impressively sheds 80kg thanks to its fancy new carbon construction. Pagani claims the carís design was started in 2010, but went back to the drawing board after three years to incorporate lessons learned from more recent projects like the Huayra BC.
PROVING money and taste donít always go hand in hand, Mercedes is convinced it can find 99 buyers for the Maybach G650 Landaulet. This automotive oddity takes a stretched Mercedes G-Class, lifts it to accommodate 22-inch rims, installs business-class-style reclining rear seats in the back, wedges a 463kW/1000Nm 6.0- litre twin-turbo V12 under the bonnet and then covers the rear quarters in fabric. Pricing isnít known, but is likely to be as large as its footprint on the road.
