LETíS get the bad news out of the way. Audiís new RS5 hasnít revived the atmo 4.2-litre V8. Good news is, though, is its 2.9-litre twinturbo V6 is packed with power, producing 331kW and 600Nm. Itís longer, wider, and uses a carbon roof to pull its centre of gravity down and help shed 60kg, the RS5 now weighing in at 1655kg.
Thereís also an eight-speed transmission handling the grunt, before channelling it through a permanent allwheel drive system. Audiís tricky diff ainít standard, but itís an option along with sharper steering, stiffer adaptive suspension, and carbon ceramic brakes. Ė LC
ITíLL ONLY be an extra 7kW up on the current Civic Type R sold in the UK, but itíll be 235kW more than us Aussies currently receive.
Hondaís officially revealed its new Civic Type R hatch and confirmed the carís key figures. The 2.0-litre VTEC four-banger drums up a turbocharged 400Nm (no change there) while carrying over a six-speed manual that now features rev-match tech.
Production kicks off in June this year in Swindon, England, before Australian deliveries begin towards the end of the year. Ė LC
