IN BRIEF

Highway Patrol Mustang spotted

FORD’S MUSTANG is back on the menu for the NSW Highway Patrol. After being spotted in Sydney installed with lights, MOTOR understands NSW Police has reinstated the Mustang as a candidate for official duties.

However, it’s a development mule, and whether it will join the Highway Patrol’s official fleet “remains to be seen,” Tarek Al-Issawi, NSW Highway Patrol’s spokesperson, tells us. NSW Police has not fully solved the issues which plagued the Mustang’s previous driving tests, reportedly caused by its automatic transmission overheating. But this suggests a fix is underway.

Forza game’s love-in for all things Aussie

AUSTRALIA’S Ford and Holden rivalry will dominate Microsoft’s new Forza Horizon 3. With little ol’ Oz the game’s backdrop, developer Playground Games has injected its car list with the iconic local metal to suit.

Notably HSV’s GTS Maloo, Holden’s 50-2016 FX Ute, and a ’74 Sandman, which joins a Torana A9X and HSV GTS. They’ll face off against Blue Oval greats like the latest XR8 and FPV’s GTF, while past Fords include FPV’s 2014 Super Pursuit Ute and the ’73 XB Falcon GT.
