HSV BUILDS ITS 85,000TH CAR

HOLDEN Special Vehicles has celebrated building its 85,000th car, a slipstream blue Clubsport R8 LSA. To mark the special occassion the milestone modelís been fitted with a unique build plate and given a letter of authenticity signed by HSVís Managing Director, Tim Jackson. The car was given to HSVís oldest dealership, Garry and Warren Smith in Oakleigh, Victoria, for sale. The first car HSV ever built was a VL Group A SS, but it was a VN T30 that marked 5000 vehicles in 1997, a decade after its inception.

MASERATI EYES TESLA RIVAL

MASERATIíS could rip a chunk out of Tesla with an all-electric sports car. Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Maserati, told Bloomberg the brand may literally electrify its sexy Alfieri concept Ė but itíll be after his time if so. Maserati wonít introduce the model until the companyís current five-year plan ends in 2018, and Marchionne adds it wonít arrive before he retires in 2019.

Maserati remains tight-lipped on more information but the news reignites hopes for the two-seat coupe, which didnít debut as scheduled this year.
